ABOUT NAPRAS

The Nigerian Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (NAPRAS) was formed in 1995 by trained Plastic Surgeons who were practicing in Nigeria as a voice for all Plastic Surgeons in the country. The association was formed to develop and advance the science, art and practice of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic in Nigeria with regards to clinical practice, training, research and ethics for the benefit of the patients.

The association is to foster co-operation with similar bodies within the sub-region, region and the global community. The membership of the association has grown since inception with members spread across the country. Most of the members are practicing in Teaching Hospitals, Federal Medical Centres and Specialist Hospitals as trainers.

Trainees in Plastic Surgery are usually accepted as associate members and as full members after passing their certification examination. Most of the work of the Plastic Surgeon in the Nigerian context is reconstructive for the restoration of form and function from different disease conditions mostly trauma. People are now seeking for aesthetic surgery within and outside the country and the demand for it will increase over time with increasing awareness of the scope of Plastic Surgery. NAPRAS will stand for the patient and the Plastic Surgeon for the overall safety and benefit of the patients.
